Not the most exciting phase of the mushroom project, but I do need to check for sterility before committing real mushroom spores.Basically to make mushrooms at home, you need to make of mixture of brown flour and perlite and sterilize it in ball jars that have holes on top. Once they've boiled for several hours and cooled, you can innoculate them with spores. Since you don't want bacteria to beat up the mushrooms, you need to make sure you're sterile. This pic shows the aquarium within an aquarium that maintains temperature and humidity (I thought it was a pretty clever design). Next step - actually growing from spores.
