It's about to begin - here comes the Christmas markets. Strasbourg is perhaps most famous for its annual Xmas market that begins this week. The locals tell us that there are a couple of good places to go to, but it's overshadowed by the sheer number of people who converge on Strasbourg. This particular picture is a shot of the base of the city's Xmas tree at night.
The plan is to go visit some of the smaller markets this weekend in both Germany and France, and keep the Strasbourg market for a late evening during the week.
